We designed and developed a hand-held real time ultrasound system, to be employed by non-specialist doctors as part of the routine clinical examination.

Our goal is to deliver a tool to any doctor whom with basic training, will be able to obtain additional information of the abdomen and pelvic organs, as a complement of the clinical examination, allowing them to make better decisions regarding additional tests, emergency management and referral to more complex medical facilities or the follow-up of already known diseases.

This device will be also useful in isolated areas where doctors, nurses, midwives and paramedical assistants could help their patients.

This is a hand-held diagnostic ultrasound machine, than can be carried in a belt, battery operated, simple to use, with high spatial resolution and good quality images that are displayed in a video goggle unit (HMD) or in any available video monitor.

It employs a 3,5 MHz convex transducer, weighs around 800gr, with 2 hours autonomy before battery charge.

The video goggle unit allows good quality vision of the images, independent of the luminosity of the place where the examination is performed and also permits guiding procedures such as punctions, free of placing a monitor or screen near the patient.

The Stethoscope of the Future

The control switches are the minimum required and can be operated intuitively with one hand while doing a sonogram. And last but not least: PRICE corresponds to a fraction of similar resolution alternatives or other portable ultrasound machines.
